The Basic Calculation
Hours worked = end time − start time − unpaid breaks. Enter 08:00 to 17:00 with a 30 minute lunch break and the calculator shows 8 hours 30 minutes, or 8.50 decimal hours. Overnight shifts are supported automatically.
Multiple Days
Add one line per working day and the weekly total builds up as you type. Days you leave blank stay at zero. Decimal hours and the hours-and-minutes total are shown together for payroll or invoicing.
What It Does Not Do
This calculator does not apply tax withholding, net pay, employment classification or labour-law rules — it is an arithmetic tool. Overtime rules vary by country, state, employer and employment type.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it deduct lunch breaks automatically?
You enter the unpaid break in minutes per day; the calculator deducts it. Only entered breaks are deducted — nothing is assumed.
Can I calculate hours for a whole week?
Yes. Add each day and the weekly total, decimal hours and overtime split appear as you type.
Does it handle night shifts?
Yes — if the end time is earlier than the start time it is treated as the next day.
